Professional Development Program for Cancer Care Excellence

The King Hussein Award’s Professional Development Program Excellence category recognizes programs in the field of cancer which are affiliated with or hosted in a university/academic institution or in an accredited hospital or cancer center/program in the Arab world.

The Professional Development Program must demonstrate commitment to clinical research, training and education of future healthcare professionals in the field of cancer. 

Award Recognition Elements

  • Award of USD 30,000
  • Recognition in the official Award Ceremony
  • The King Hussein Award Plaque 

Conditions for applying

  • The program is engaged in the field of cancer and affiliated with a university/academic institution or an accredited hospital or cancer center/program in the Arab world.
  • The categories of healthcare professions related to any field in cancer and cancer care continuity and has impact at the institutional/national/regional level.
  • The program has operated for a minimum of three years and has a proven track record, with data covering no less than three years.
  • The program covers any/all cancer care across the continuum.
  • National or international accreditation is preferred.
  • The program has specific/published requirements for admission/enrollment/promotion and certification.
  • Demonstrated partnership and collaboration with other programs.
  • Multiple programs from the same institution can apply, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Mentorship plan for trainees and faculty 

How to apply

To apply for the Professional Development Program for Cancer Care Excellence applications must include the following components:

  1. A brief description of the program
  2. Applying Program – Main Information (name, country, city, website, social media, etc.)
  3. Administration/Capacity:
    • Organizational Structure
    • Leadership
    • Accreditations if available
    • Vision, mission, objectives and values
    • Period of enrollment
    • Duration of program operation
    • Credentialing policy (Process and Committee) if available
    • Achievement, recognition and awards
    • National, regional, and international collaborations and partnership
    • Number of new cancer cases per year
    • Quality assurance: measurement and monitoring of the quality of education/training including KPIs and benchmarking
    • Administrative Cancer Committee (if available) and documentation
  4. Curriculum, policies/procedures, requirements for exams/evaluation, compliance etc....
  5. Relationship/agreements and fulfilling of the requirements of the regulatory authorities of the country.
  6. Demonstrated impact of the program at the national and regional levels
  7. Number of graduates and employment rates.
  8. Number of graduating classes/cohorts.
  9. Budget (capital and operational) and financial sustainability.
