Promising Researcher Grant

Dr. Sabet leads the Systems Biology and Immunology lab at the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 (CCHE 57357) and is an Oberassistent at the University Children’s Hospital of Zürich, Switzerland. Her postgraduate training uniquely positioned her at the intersection of biology, computational methods, and advanced imaging technologies. She earned her Master’s degree with highest honors from the University of Bath’s Department of Life Sciences and later received a full fellowship to complete her doctoral studies with highest honors at the Max Planck Institute in Dortmund, Germany. This foundation enabled her to establish an independent research program focused on single-cell analysis and visualization techniques to uncover the causes and consequences of biological heterogeneity. These variations can drive opposing immune responses, such as hyperactivation or immune deficiency, depending on the context. Factors influencing this variability include genetic background, environmental conditions, and protein localization within cells.

Bridging her work at two leading clinical institutions in pediatric immunology and oncology, Dr. Sabet’s research focuses on understanding how the immune system interacts with cancer. She is particularly interested in genetic immune disorders, which manifest as increased susceptibility to infections, cancer, or immune dysregulation. These disorders are more common in consanguineous populations, making them a critical area of study and awareness in the Middle East.

Dr. Sabet is supported by the University of Zurich’s Priority Program for Rare Diseases (Innovative Therapies in Rare Diseases). She has mentored numerous Master's and Ph.D. students both in Egypt and internationally, and her work has been published in several leading peer-reviewed journals.
